Plaka - Villa Plaka

Opulent, seductive and meticulously detailed, this lush traditional Cretan home is located in a quiet isolated area in the countryside of Plaka village. Villa Plaka is a residential property with a total area of 250 sq m, the construction of which was completed in 2012.

Our mission on this project was challenging. Our client stated that no matter elsewhere in the world they had travelled, nowhere felt like Crete. We took this vision and decided to create a residence that reflects our client’s wish, but at the same time respects the rich Cretan heritage. Nude colored walls, natural stone facades and terracotta tiled roof blend harmoniously with the surrounding. An old semi demolished stone storage on -site was also reconstructed, using just natural stone and wood, so as to keep its traditional Cretan architectural identity.

A covered outdoor dining area, BBQ, wood – fired oven, swimming pool and flourishing gardens with Cretan herbs and trees surround the premises and create a warm family environment for its occupants.

Gounalakis Giorgos project managed the design and construction of this property, during his 21 years as shareholder and Head of the Construction Department in his previous company.
